Yet another awesome US company announcing UK expansion at #LeWeb !!

daretoask:

//NOW LIVE IN LONDON — HotelTonight opens office in the UK// Sam Shank, CEO of same-day-booking pioneer HotelTonight, takes the stage at LeWeb to announce the opening of its first European office, just ahead of the London Olympics. Already live in over 40 cities in the US and Canada, this very sleek app “makes the world more spontaneous” and has unlocked a new user group of ‘impulse bookers’.

HotelTonight is a pure made-for-mobile brand with a sophisticated back-end infrastructure that enables a speedy process from booking to check-in within 10 seconds. “90 percent of our code is invisible for the user”, told us Shank in an earlier interview, emphasizing that the company’s competitive advantage goes way beyond the app and deep into logistics and operations. The London hub, to be located in Shoredtich, will be treated as a start-up on its own, rather than a satellite office. The company has hired Heather Leisman as Managing Director, Europe. Leisman joins from Jetsetter. HotelTonight recently closed a $23 million C round to fuel further international growth, more European activities are to be expected.

HotelTonight’s aim is not only to make the booking fast & convenient, but focuses on making the entire hotel experience as pleasant as possible. Ultimately this will make the loyalty difference.  “We need to make sure that our guests also have a good night sleep. Otherwise they won’t come back,” says Shank. Therefore, HotelTonight’s team personally selects the hotels in each city and holds direct relationships with hotel partners — which makes it different to pure ‘booking bots’ like booking.com. The first London hotel deals include Belgraves Hotel, Blakes Hotel, St Martins Lane Hotel, The Langham and The Cadogan.

HotelTonight surely is a must-have accessory for urban nomads. Talking from experience, I admit that using the app can be rather addictive as you get to try a variety of hotels you might not have stayed in otherwise. So, Welcome to Europe!

HotelTonight is available for iPhone, iPad and Android.
